We are all stronger when we work together. It has become very prevalent in modern society that if you wish to succeed professionally, you need to surround yourself with people who value teamwork. Did you know that in a  company, 37 percent of employees think teamwork is very important? Troopmessenger also listed a study by Salesforce, that more than 85 percent of employees think that the reason a project fails is because of a lack of communication and teamwork. Salesforce. You have probably heard of it and chances are, if you work at a mid-sized or larger company, you probably use it yourself. Salesforce is the world’s number 1 customer relationship management (CRM) platform. This platform is built to help “marketing, sales, commerce, service, and IT teams work as one from anywhere…” If you value teamwork, then you are in good company with Salesforce. Now that it is established that Salesforce is a CRM, the next question is asking the follow-up. Is Salesforce a DXP?

Is Salesforce a DXP?

It is possible to create a Salesforce digital experience by purchasing the Salesforce Experience Cloud. For an additional cost, users can begin to streamline business operations and connect different experiences all to increase digital engagement related to data in Salesforce. You could build a digital experience from scratch and connect it to your Salesforce instance, or choose from a list of Salesforce digital experience templates to speed up the process. For companies that heavily rely on Salesforce for daily business functions, the Salesforce Experience Cloud may be of interest to you.  However, the Salesforce Experience Cloud does have a number of limitations compared to other digital experience platforms. For example, the Salesforce Experience Cloud requires your digital experience to be connected to Salesforce data which works for some use cases, but not all. Other DXPs such as Lumavate allow you to integrate all of your existing content and data tech stack and pull that content and data into your digital experience. This type of DXP gives you significantly more flexibility than a more closed architecture such as the Salesforce Experience Cloud.

What Is a DXP Platform?

A DXP Platform, or DXP is better known as a digital experience platform. Gartner defines a DXP as an “integrated set of core technologies that support the composition, management, delivery, and optimization of contextualized digital experiences.” If you read that definition and are more confused than ever, you are in good company. A better definition would be to say that a DXP is a software in which the user can centralize siloed information within an organization and build robust and meaningful digital experiences in a timely and cost-effective manner. Some DXP examples can be found in some of the top platforms. To list a few of these top platforms, there’s Sitecore DXP, Adobe DXP, Acquia DXP, and Lumavate. Each platform has their own strengths and drawbacks when it comes to providing digital experiences. Nevertheless, these DXP technologies have proven to achieve their customer’s goals and helped them expand into marketing technologies.

What Is the Difference Between DXP and CRM?

Customer relationship management systems (CRMs) are mostly used to “gather, store and analyze customer data…” according to  Granify. CRMs can be found dominating the e-commerce market as all of the valuable information can be stored in one central location. Salesforce is the prime example of a CRM. You can manage account data, contracts, contact information, and more. A CRM is also used to convert leads into sales and logging important information about your customers. A CRM can be an excellent tool for storing and managing data for your organization. Alternatively, Granify also states that a DXP is more of a “front-end software that manages digital experiences throughout an extensive range of touchpoints.” Your DXPs should be able to contain your content in a content management system (CMS) and be able to access and manage your data from the platform. Unlike a CRM, a DXP is focused on the creation and management of digital experiences across a wide variety of use cases such as product launches, marketing campaigns, product guides, and more. .  A good DXP can allow you to truly streamline your business operations and even integrate to your CRM! For example, you could include a lead registration form in your digital experience that is integrated to Salesforce and have the form submissions immediately flow into your Salesforce instance. It is also worth noting that Lumavate integrates with CRMs like Salesforce and allows users to build a front-end to their Salesforce instance. This can help streamline your business needs to automatically update your Salesforce CRM from our DXP platform.

Who Uses Salesforce Experience Cloud?

Salesforce Experience Cloud is Salesforce’s very own DXP. You can create websites, portals, and apps with connected data that draws from your Salesforce instance. The problem is, to use this platform and to build meaningful digital experiences you must be a certified Salesforce administrator. This means that small to medium-sized companies may have a more difficult time creating experiences with Salesforce Experience Cloud due to lack of trained and certified administrators. Not to mention that this platform favors developers as well. If you wish to style your components, it is required that you write CSS to style the pages and page elements to your liking. While Salesforce Experience Cloud can create robust experiences, traditional business owners or marketers may have a difficult time getting their experiences up and running using this DXP. Fortunately, there is another DXP solution. Lumavate is a DXP that anyone can use. Our “What you see is what you get” studio ensures that building meaningful and elaborate digital experiences is possible. It should not take a computer science degree or a paid certification (on top of the money you are already spending on the DXP AND the CRM), to bring your digital experience vision to life. Lumavate’s Salesforce Integration is the perfect way to save your organization time and money. By connecting your Salesforce instance to your Lumavate Studio, any digital experience built in Lumavate can capture data and send it directly to your Salesforce CRM by any employee that has access to the Lumavate Studio.
