We are all so busy these days. If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that everyday is unpredictable and we never know what unexpected challenge is going to be thrown our way. So, when I say that you should build an app to include in your mobile marketing strategy, you are probably going to roll your eyes. I get it. But, I am here to tell you building an app doesn’t have to be as excruciating of a process as it once was. In fact, you can actually now build an app pretty easily, and you don’t even need to know how to code. Here is how to create an app without coding in three easy steps. Step One: Find A Low Code App Builder The truth is, you don’t need to be a developer to build an app anymore. With a low code or no-code app builder, basically, anyone has the power to build an app on their own. You just have to decide what app builder to use, and then you are good to go. The main decision here is between a low code app builder and a no code app builder. A no-code platform lets you develop an app without requiring any code. So instead of writing code, you can add content to the app screen and have it updated in real-time. This sounds great, but the one catch is you can’t bring in any of your own code to further personalize the app. Low code app development platforms on the other hand leaves room for a little more flexibility. A low code platform still lets you build an app from beginning to end with no code required. But it also leaves the option open for users to bring their own custom code in. Step Two: Pick an App to Build The next step is to decide what kind of app you are going to build. This step kind of two-fold. One, you have to decide what the purpose of your app is going to be, what it is going to look like, etc. This is the stuff that is more obvious. But you also have to decide what kind of app you want to build. Now, don’t freak out if you didn’t even know there was more than one type of app, you aren’t the only one. Native Mobile App For a long time native mobile apps have been the cornerstone of apps. When you first think of an app, this is probably what you think of. You download them from the app store and they are compatible with the hardware of your phone which improves functionality. However, they also take much longer to build, are more expensive, and you have to build separate apps for Android and iOS devices. So while native mobile apps might sound like the creme de la creme in theory, they aren’t as great as meets the eye. Progressive Web App The other choice here is a Progressive Web App (PWA). A PWA is an evolution of the standard web app. Basically it is an app that is hosted through the web, but a PWA is installable to your home screen so it will look, feel, and run like a native mobile app. It is a great way to get the native app feel, which customers like, but take away all of the other roadblocks, like the need to download, development time, and cost. Step Three: Build it Your Way on Your Time Finally, build the app the way YOU want it. The best part about building an app with no code is that you can be in charge of the way the app looks and functions from beginning to end. Say goodbye to waiting on IT to get back to you or having constraints regarding what you can and cannot do. Plus, if you decide to go with a PWA and build on a low code PWA platform, that means you can also have your app free of the app store. While that might not sound like a huge deal, trust me, it is. The app store likes to hold apps hostage and take a portion of the apps revenue. But when you build a PWA, you can avoid it all together. See, building an app doesn’t have to be hard at all. In fact, it can actually be pretty fun. So next time you are rethinking your mobile marketing strategy, consider building an app in just these three easy steps.
