On March 28, Apple released iOS 11.3 and started supporting the new standard of delivering “apps” to mobile devices. This is really great news for those of us that love our mobile devices and have become disenchanted with the hassle of going to the App Store, downloading an app, then setting up an account and password. It is also great news for brands that have been struggling with mobile adoption with their customers, employees, members, dealers, or patients. In fact, Gartner predicts “By 2020, progressive web apps will have replaced 50% of general-purpose, consumer-facing mobile apps.” Think about that, in just two years, cloud-based mobile apps, also known as Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) will be how innovative brands will communicate with their customers on mobile devices. Why the Dramatic Shift? In one word, adoption. Brands have been spending significant money on native mobile apps, only to see poor adoption due to the hassle of the App Store. With a PWA, customers can use smart activations with contextual data to bring up relevant, personalized apps to create a unique experience at the moment of need...talk about the ability to truly delight a customer. This Changes the Landscape of the Mobile Experience The shift from native mobile apps to PWAs means that brands can create numerous mobile apps for each touchpoint of the customer journey. These delightful apps (experiences) are designed to improve your customer’s experience at a particular moment in time. No more wading through the App Store or a large monolithic app to find the personalized information they need. This means you could have a marketing experience, sales experience, service experience, training experience, and more to align with each touchpoint in the journey. How Does Lumavate Help? In this new environment of many apps, you need a tool to dramatically lower the cost and improve the time-to-value of building apps, and that is where Lumavate comes in.
